"VSA have helped and supported me so much and I am so excited and proud to be a part of this organisation. It is a great platform for us to get help with legal documents, negotiations, potential producers, support and also protecting our rights. I now for the first time feel protected and that my work is appreciated and valued."
  • Yennis Cheung

"If I'm honest, as a teenage singer/songwriter, signed to a major record label, I was spoiled. I never learned the ins and outs of contracts and deals. Negotiation was done for me. Now I'm older, working on both my own recordings as well as library tracks. I'm a bit wiser about deals and contracts, but find it confusing, frustrating and at times tedious getting to grips with legalise, or following paper trails!

Thank goodness for the VSA. They help explain legal documents to me, and offer advice with my best interests at heart. I no longer feel alone!"

"Being a songwriter/vocalist can be a solitary experience. Long hours spent in dimly lit rooms with little but your own 'inner voice' to guide & direct you, both creatively & professionally.

I believe being part of the VSA offers me the opportunity to take my 'tiny whisper' and turn it into a 'throng'. Our individual memberships allow us to directly contribute to the ever- changing infrastructure of this business and as the VSA unite us in one 'collective voice', they're sure to bring about a greater feeling of fairness and regularity, setting new industry standards along the way."
  • Arny Bink

"VSA is an amazing initiative, now there's finally a platform where vocalists/songwriters can support each other wherever necessary. I will definitely refer new vocal talent to VSA as a starting point if they want to learn more about how to get around in the music industry."
  • Angie Brown

"The VSA has helped me and so many singer-songwriters, who have in one way or another felt hard-done-by, in our cut throat industry... Thanks for giving us a shoulder to lean on, and someone to turn to... It reassuring to know that the VSA is there, I feel much more confident within myself when negotiating deals. Thanks VSA!"
  • VSA Royalties Collections

We know that many of you wonder why you are not getting the record royalties you think you are owed or are confused as to how it all works.  Why am I not getting any money?  How does publishing work? What is PPL?  Who should I register with?

The VSARM will answer all your questions. We are offering all our members a fair, secure and regulated world-wide Royalty collections deal for both publishing and PPL without giving away your copyright control.

Welcome to the VSA!

Vocalist Songwriters Alliance     The VSA is a new non-profit organisation exclusively for professional vocalist/songwriters in all genres of music.

Over the last few years, we have noticed a common pattern in the industry. Vocalist/songwriters have been finding it very hard to find any modicum of regulation and security in the minefield of the music industry. We kept hearing about your dissatisfaction and how you wanted things to change. You wanted to see the music industry become more fair and balanced on both a creative and a business level.

The VSA saw that this was an opportunity to create an Alliance that would unite professional vocalists/songwriters throughout the world and together, strive for regulation, security, mutual support and value.

Our ethos is to provide information that will help protect all copyright and intellectual property rights of any vocalist/songwriters affiliated with the VSA. To work together, to change the integral mindset of the industry. To finally have one voice.

Artists are some of the most driven and courageous people on the face of the earth.
They deal with more day to day rejection in one year than most people do in a lifetime. Every day, artists face the financial challenge of living a freelance lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get ‘real’ jobs, and their own fear that they’ll never work again. Every day they have to ignore the possibility that the vision to which they have dedicated their lives is a pipedream. With every passing year, many of them watch as other people their age; achieve the predictable milestones of normal life – the car, the family, the house, the nest egg. But they stay true to their dream, in spite of the sacrifices. Why? Because artists are willing to give their entire lives to a moment – to that line, that laugh, that gesture, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul. Artists are beings who have tasted life’s nectar in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched another’s heart. In that instant, they were as close to magic, God and perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes.” – David Acker
